Nice, and timely, post! I do think there is a difference between sharing your thoughts (or other people's) on social media and in a newsletter. The process of having to put, like, a lot of sentences together, or read a lot of sentences, in multiple paragraphs, seems to me to actually create a certain amount of "quiet." So no hypocrisy in my eyes!
Those dresses are stunning. Wish I could see them in person. Thank you so much for the night owl link, I've always felt guilty that I can't get up at dawn and start my day early.
I don’t have any problems getting up early, but since I’m also a night owl it means I don’t get much sleep. But yes, I was also a bit relieved to read this!
I was very much checked out of the news cycle before Sunday. Then suddenly, I am being pulled back into it again, for better or for worse. I have stopped reading since Sunday and have being refreshing my podcast feed, hungry for more updates. I am not an American, but whoever becomes the next president will impact the lives of all those who live in this country.
By the way, the popsicles you shared look absolutely delicious!
Your post is so timely in that I'm in the midst of actively remaking some of my phone and social media habits (see my latest post about banishing my phone over night). The calming effect of not constantly picking up my phone so much during the day and leaving it alone before bed has been extremely satisfying for a number of reasons. Trying to process so much information and so many opinions at once is in no way a good thing.
Thanks for sharing the photos of the dresses. That first one really is a stunner and a few of the others stand out, as well.
Fashion as art, this was such a stunning exhibit. The key here, is to try and retain some good vacation habits once I'm home: putting the phone down, getting better sleep, talking to people vs. hanging out on social media because I'm alone in the house during the day. This is always the challenge.
The Iris van Herpen is just phenomenal! It engages the imagination so much, plays with the sense of scale, to my eye at least (can flowers and dragonfly wings be larger than people? can people live as flower petals?). Thank you for sharing your trip
Dave! It warms my heart when I see connections on threads crossover to here. I'm glad to share it with people. I learned of so many new designers doing incredible work with fashion and textiles.

Ha, I like it. Thanks for the validation 😀
That's where I went the week of the debate chaos. It definitely had a calming effect.
I loved it. Just wish it wasn’t so crowded on a weekday morning so I could linger a little longer. It was such a great show.
Yes to real life connections! And conversations. ♥️
❤️❤️❤️❤️

Such fantastic pictures! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for reading, Andrei. Always appreciate it.

This election has so much in stake for everyone, not just Americans. But it does feel a lot more energized now.!
Thanks for sharing this slice of beauty and enjoy the rest of summer ;-)
Thank you! Hope you’re enjoying your summer as well!
