Yes to color! I’m the same. I used to be the neutral lady with my decor and wardrobe and now i am slowly adding the rainbow in. A reflection of what I want to invite more of in my life.
Love these lines:
The shade of pink is hard to describe—not quite watermelon and not quite berry, but undeniably bright. It is the color of happiness; it is the color of my future.
I guess never say never, right? I hate to say it but I think black can sometimes suck the color out of my face now, or it looks too severe, or I don't know. I'll pass the torch to my kid who is now wearing almost exclusively black 🤗
I wear neutrals almost exclusively, except for pink, which is unapologetically my absolute favorite color. And as a diehard Gilmore Girls fan, I think Lorelai would approve. :)
It's funny that you have started to embrace pink into your wardrobe; I recently purchased my first (as an adult) pair of dungarees. I'm not so much venturing towards colour but feeling a urge to try something slightly out of character. I wonder if it's a new phase of life, maybe when kids are suddenly doing their own thing and we suddenly think: ok, who do I want to be now?
(Also, Gilmore Girls is our family go-to comfort watch, too!)
I think dungarees = overalls here in the states? I just had a conversation with a British person about all the differences in words between US and Britain and we had a good laugh. Also, I'm so fascinated that Gilmore Girls is your comfort show. It seems so fake small town American quirkiness! But maybe maybe there are more similarities than I think.
Such a joyful read. I always savor your essays. I love the imagery, the pace and reflection.
And I agree—powdery blue skies with bare branches are views not to be granted in the middle of winter. And yes to pale pink! I sometimes like salmon pink with a hint of orange.
The rain will just not go away here today, it’s yucky! I love pink even though I’m not a girly girl either and I always avoid white, but I did buy a white blouse after my healer suggested I needed to wear white. I always feel quite serene when I wear it. 🙏💫
I don’t know if I remember exactly, I think it was something to do with feeling lighter as in less dense energy, something like that. The purity of white to promote positivity?
I feel like, with many other things, there are ebbs and flows to the art process. Pretty soon the tide will pick up for you, and I look forward to seeing your artistic expression when that happens. In the meantime, thanks for sharing so much of your process now.
Haha, I tried. It just ends up looking like a blob. And then, you know, it didn't quite go with the whole vibe of this newsletter which ended up being so emo 🙄🤣

Color looks so much better on my skin. Although I still love black!

I think I wore that pink sweater when we met for coffee last week!
Yes, and I coveted it. :)

Ah, yes, I think dungarees are overalls! In the UK, overalls refer to the all in one outfit worn for a specific job, like a maintenance person! 😀
Regarding Gilmore Girls, I think we like to imagine that all small town American towns are like that, cozy and nothing bad ever happens!
And here, the all in one outfit is called coveralls!
And yes, all small town America is exactly like that, every single one 😂
'It is the color of happiness; it is the color of my future.'
How this sings to me. Glorious.

Thanks so much Daphne for the kind comment ❤️

So interesting about the white. What did your healer say was the need?

I like the less dense energy part! Thanks for sharing.
ha! That ridiculous bag stuck in the tree. I can't believe it's still there.

Missed this comment somehow. Always appreciate your thoughts and your support ❤️
I was hoping for a picture of the bag!
